White Heart Learning and Resource Center
The White Heart Learning and Resource Center is a dedicated education space on Level 2 of the Center for Advanced Heart Care. It’s one of the most comprehensive resources of its kind in Kansas City, open to patients, families, and community members who want to learn how the heart works and why heart health matters.
The center was made possible by a gift from Shirley White and her children, Jerry White, Linda White, and Sandi Field, and honors their late husband and father, Lewis White, who received heart care at The University of Kansas Health System.
It also supports clinicians by gathering research and educational materials for the health system’s doctors, nurses, and staff.

Interactive Learning
The White Heart Learning and Resource Center is both a quiet reading room and a hands-on exhibit. In the library, you’ll find videos, an interactive touch screen with 3D heart models, and a mix of printed and digital materials on many cardiology topics, all available to use in the center. Alongside the tech, the center stocks books and pamphlets on heart conditions, heart health, diet, and exercise. Patients and families can also look for dietitian-approved cookbooks to help build healthy eating habits. Like to explore? Can’t visit in person? We’ve put part of our education library online, including videos and downloadable handouts, so you can learn from anywhere with an internet connection, any time.
